October 2020 PTSA Newsletter
Message from our CGPA PTSA President

Hello CGPA Families!

Welcome to the first edition of this school year's newsletter. The PTSA will continue its mission to keep parents informed and involved, but in order to do that, WE NEED YOUR HELP! If you are receiving this email, you are part of our database, but it doesn't mean your profile is up to date. Please take one minute to update your profile, update your child's teacher, grade, etc. I cannot stress enough the importance of having everyone be part of our communication system, now more than ever! And while updating, don't forget to become a member, purchase spirit gear, and be generous with your favorite school program. More information will be forthcoming regarding our first virtual general PTSA meeting, 2020 - 2021 budget approval, and so much more in this challenging year, so please take part in our small, but mighty community! #WEARECGPA!

Message from our Principal

Hello Eagles!  I'd like to welcome all families, both existing and new, to another great school year.  Our school theme this year will focus on #IamCGPA.  This theme will be carried out throughout the school year in order to build community and a sense of pride in our school.  The challenges this year are a great opportunity to teach our children that overcoming adversity makes us stronger.  By excelling, either in the schoolhouse or virtual mode, we will succeed!

In partnership with the PTSA, we plan to continue to celebrate our students' achievements throughout the year and we look forward to keeping you informed!

Your Principal,
Jeanette Sierra-Funcia

Join the PTSA Today!

CGPA PTSA supports critical academic needs, is an active voice on decisions that impact your child's health, safety and quality of education, and builds a stronger, more inclusive school community. But, we can't do it alone! We need our families to join our PTSA. There is no right or wrong way to be involved - anything you can give, whether it's time or money, will support your child's potential. Click the image to join. We can do more together than apart!

Purchase Your Spirit Gear Today

The School Store is OPEN to purchase all your CGPA spirit items! We have hoodies, spirit shirts, car magnets, and more! We also sell school uniform patches, ties (for the upper academy), and other uniform essentials. A PTSA member will contact you once your order is filled to arrange for pick up or delivery.

Media Center Makeover

This summer, the Media Center got a makeover, courtesy of the PTSA. New tables and chairs were purchased to allow more flexible seating options. We can't wait to see the reactions from students when they catch a glimpse of the added "POP" of color!

Values Matter At CGPA

Each month, Ms. Valdes-Diaz, our school counselor, selects a character trait to focus on. These character traits are used by teachers when selecting Student of the Month recipients for each class. (Did you know the PTSA sponsors the Student of the Month program?) In September, the trait was RESPECT. For the month of October, the trait is RESPONSIBILITY. Help your students learn what it means to be responsible. October is also Bullying Prevention Month. The school will celebrate Red Ribbon Week, an alcohol, tobacco, and other drug and violence prevention awareness campaign, October 23 - 31.
